I was wondering if fanfiction of the comics, original characters not involved in the comics, and fanart of said original characters not involved within the comic, should really be on Snafucomics Wikia--such as Griddle's fanfiction details and Numa's character's, for instance. Since they're not related to Snafu itself and is non-canon, it doesn't appear appropriate to be there and deleting all the articles seem to be best so there is no confusion--I've seen a few posts in the past believing that those fanfictions were canon, so this is what prompts me to want to delete them all. If that's not an option, could there at least be a label of the Non-canon picture in each of the articles, like the one on Jewel's?
Good point but I think it is better if you ask this to DarKingdomHearts, he is the bureaucrat of the wiki and, I believe, the creator of those pages. Pages like Jewel and Grim Mandy (non-canon pages), we keep around cause they are "elseworlds" ideas with strong connections to the comics. Bleedman's art page, we keep around because it is just interesting to see and this wiki is based on his work... But for the pages involving Griddles' fanfics, you should ask DKH why we keep them around...
Thanks for the heads-up. I will look into what the problem is with the profile picture. Adding more info to page will have to wait for a while, since I'm alphabetically updating the pages and the last page I updated, was Creeper. But thanks for creating the page in the first place, we do need those pages, even if they are article stubs at the beginning.
Hey, since you have lots of knowledge of the comics etc. and have been a great help around here, would you be interested in joining a Skype group of others who like the comics. It is an Anti-NEK group, Griddles is in it as well. Just let me know if you want in :)
I would be interested but it depends what form this Anti-NEK sentiment takes form. If with Anti, you mean, the group is skeptical of NEK's work, questioning his decisions in a fair way, sign me up. But if Anti means the criticism comes down to: I don't agree with a decision, therefore it is a bad decision, everything that stems from what happened after this point is bad and his talents are therefore questionable, then no.
My experience with that kind of group (the latter one) is that they tends to have an irrational hate for the work and little to nothing what the person does, will be good in the eyes of such fanbases, which makes discussion rather useless.
I would say that we are the former one. We discuss things about NEK from time to time (the group isn't only bout that) and may set him in bad light. But we always are fair with him (there are some jokes here and there, but they're jokes after all)
In that case, I'm interested. Discussing and criticizing things is natural to fandoms and I have no problem with it, hell, I love discussing things and pointing out things I don't agree with. Probably poor choice of words on your part but what you mean, is that they don't always (or even not often) speak highly of his decisions or his writings. I can live with that. To me, he is a decent writer but with that, everything is said, if you get my meaning. As for jokes, a joke is a joke and since my own sense of humor varies from just acceptable to Highway to Hell, I'm not one to judge when it comes to comedy.
I looked into it and the problem is that the picture was placed outside the gallery
It looked like this:
[[File:Grim Scythe 1.png|thumb|220x220px]]
I have solved the problem, using the coding:
Grim Scythe 1.png|Scythe Skills
When adding a picture to a gallery, the [[File:picture.png]], can't be used. In a gallery, you have to add it as picture.png|description. (Descriptions is optional.) The problem is solved now, but if you wonder how you can check what is wrong with a page, there are three ways.
Next to edit, there is an arrow, pressing it will have you a few options, the first is classical editor. When going to Source, you can compare it to other pages, with similar/same coding or to other parts of the page with the same coding.
Under classical editor, you also have history, it allows you to look back at what your edit was and how it was before.
When you go to Wiki Activity, you see an looking glass, next to an update. Click on it and you can see what changes are made, in the source code.
And if should you wonder how I'm able to show you the codes without activating them, I placed every code between these code: <nowiki></nowiki>, so they aren't treated as wiki code.
They were copied from Blossom's page, since they have the same basic powers (and same references). But if you see anything that I looked over in my haste (like names that remain unaltered), typos, grammar errors or generally think you can describe something better, go ahead. The only thing that I would ask you, please don't alter the names used for the abilities (Bold text, example: Cryokinesis:). These names are used for professionality, uniformity and to prevent unnecessary repeating when the ability is limited.
And thanks for doing this, I really appreciate it.
Hey admin, I was just wondering about the appearance photos in the profile of every each character. Why would we put it there? .And what it's the purpose of gallery?.. You know for me, the profile show their database and basic appearance. If we put in their all the appearance, there is nothing lefts to see there appearance in the gallery. It's just a waste of pages. (Sorry, for my grammar but i try to speak for this one because i really don't alike it.. most of other wiki, they always post the basic appearance).
I almost delete some of photo in the following character, Chi, Dee Dee, Olga. Don't worry about this one, after we talked. If either i place it again or not.
I understand what you mean. I think the reason for this is to create a short summary of appearances on the main page, although I'm not sure. It was also not my idea to begin with and I never really question it. Maybe it is a better idea to ask this question at DKH and share your concern with him. After all, he is the bureaucrat and likely the one who introduced this in this first place.
While you are at it, perhaps you could also show him your proposal for the gallery template. I find it a good idea (despite the work it will take to implicate it), but again, run it by him first. (And if you do it in one message, it is more likely to get answers on both questions.
As for your grammar, English, as every language, is something you can only learn by trying and practice. It is far better to try and make it errors, than not try at all. And althought you made some errors, it is clear what you are trying to say, so don't worry about it too much. (As long as I understand what you are trying to tell me, I don't care about grammar or spelling in these message)
Every theory has his flaws but I have to say, his writings are good: humorous but still with an eye on the darker themes. He also knows how to explain some of the retcon/plotholes in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy...
The forum policy on this wiki is rather simple, only the News and Announcements Bulletin is off limits for postings of regular users (reacting of course is always possible) as it is used by the Bureaucrat and the Admins. Only this Bulletin is for serious business about the wiki. The rest is for discussing any topic, as long as it is about the comics. You could use the community portal or talk page of the comic/the character but experience learns that the messages on the forum are answered quicker, because people will notice it faster.
Good call, I had no intention on removing the content, just repairing the broken links. Something must have gone wrong (either misclicked or a technical malfunction). Thanks for telling me and you handled it perfectly. Everytime a page is vandalized or damaged, the best course of action is reverting back to the previous edit. I will now repair the links and make sure that nothing else happens...
